The Mobile C.A.R.E. Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides free health care to children with asthma via two mobile medical clinics, the Asthma Vans. A job opening is available for a full- or part-time nurse who can work with a team, including a physician and clinical assistant/driver in an innovative environment to provide asthma care to underserved families. NHLBI guidelines will provide the foundation for the model of care. Patient history and family teaching are major components of the job.
Duties include: Assess respiratory status of patients Obtain detailed patient history Patient and family asthma education Medication and spacer instruction Allergy Skin testing Spirometry (lung function) testing Communicate with families, physicians, school personnel and community agencies Refer to community agencies, when appropriate Assess needs of mobile clinics, including supplies Participate in planning and patient review meetings Provide case management support Other duties as necessary
Requirements: Bilingual (Spanish and English) RN preferred, LPN required Experience in clinical management of pediatric asthma Community focus Culturally sensitive Team player Understands comprehensive care Good communication skills Good organizational skills Computer skills preferred Reliable car for travel
